About The Role

Working Hours: 35 hours Monday to Friday

Essential Car Documentation - This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance. 

 

Police Vetting – You will be required to undertake a Greater Manchester Police vetting process.  

 

BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. You will therefore be required to consent to and comply with BPSS checking requirements prior to commencing in this post. This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check.  

 

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for a Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.  

 
Early Help Complex Safeguarding Hub - 12 month maternity cover

The team are based at Greenheys Police Station and adopt a Team around the family approach working alongside other professionals providing support to families that are at risk of exploitation. whilst recognising that exploitation has implications for the whole family. The Practitioner will work with children, parents and carers city wide to educate them around exploitation including recognition and understanding of push and pull factors. The Early Help Practitioner will also work with families to identify strengths and factors that will create/increase stability within the family home environment. The Complex Safeguarding Hub Early Help Practitioner will work closely with the Complex Safeguarding Hub Social Workers, Police and other involved agencies providing regular updates in relation to any joint work with families. The Early Help Practitioner will regularly attend the daily risk briefing and share any relevant information relating to family intervention.

About the Candidate

We’re looking for a candidate who: 
• Has strong communication skills both face-to-face and over the phone 
• The role holder will deliver high quality direct support to individuals and families managing existing and possible future risks through assessment and plans created with the individual needs of the service user as the priority. 
• To be able to work in coordination with partners and professionals. The role holder will assist service users to engage with support services provided by both statutory and voluntary agencies, ensuring that the family is appropriately supported and therefore able to contribute actively in the community. 
• The role holder will provide advice and expertise, particularly in relation to new initiatives, to partner agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and represent the rights and needs of the vulnerable residents of Manchester. 
• A key part of the role is building a strengths based positive relationship with the family. This involves working in partnership with families to identify what support needs to be in place. 
• The role holder needs to be experienced in conducting assessments and have a persistent approach to engage families and be flexible within this. They need to understand the children’s daily lived experience and support parents to improve outcomes for children.
• Knowledge of multi-agency working and the safeguarding framework. 
• Familiarity with attachment (including adverse childhood experiences) and emotional dysregulation issues. 
• Are an excellent team member, having good time management, able to prioritise workload, multi-task and be flexible across their workday. 
• Excellent IT skills proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to use multi application systems and associated software packages
