About The Role

Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 per annum
 
 

As our Admin Officer (SEND), you will be at the heart of our school’s operations, providing essential administrative support that helps us deliver the very best for our pupils.

Working closely with senior staff, you will ensure our office runs smoothly and efficiently, supporting both staff and families in a friendly and professional manner. Your role will be vital in promoting pupil wellbeing and upholding the values of Every Child Matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, responsive administrative support to the school, working collaboratively with staff and parents to foster pupil wellbeing and positive outcomes.
  • Lead and motivate the administrative office team, coordinating rotas and ensuring all duties are covered, so that our support services run seamlessly.
  • Oversee the reception area, making sure visitors are welcomed warmly and that front-line staff are well-prepared to represent our school.
  • Support pupil welfare by assisting with first aid and liaising with parents and staff to ensure every child feels safe and cared for.
  • Take ownership of routine clerical and administrative tasks, helping to organise school activities and events that bring our community together.
  • Manage the database of external examination invigilators, arrange cover, and communicate effectively with the Examinations Officer.
  • Supervise the administration of pupil admissions, ensuring a smooth and welcoming process for new families.
  • Maintain accurate manual and computerised records, using IT systems to provide timely reports and statistics as needed.
  • Respond to enquiries at reception, sign in visitors, and handle correspondence with professionalism and care.
  • Organise meetings and events, taking high-quality notes and ensuring every detail is attended to.
  • Assist with school lettings, manage display boards, and help keep our school environment vibrant and inviting.
  • Operate relevant ICT packages, arrange secure storage of supplies, and provide helpful guidance to staff, pupils, and visitors.
  • Uphold the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
  • Champion school policies on safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and data protection, ensuring our community remains safe and inclusive.
  • Contribute to the ethos and aims of Bridgelea Primary School, participating in meetings, training, and ongoing professional development

  • Experience working in an administrative support environment, ideally within a school or similar setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to engage confidently with colleagues, pupils, parents, and visitors.
  • Good numeracy skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to lead and inspire others, helping your team to achieve their best.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the confidence to plan your own workload and support others in managing theirs.
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving and daily tasks.
  • Willingness to undertake minor first aid training to support pupil welfare.
  • Competence in using a range of software packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new IT systems as needed.
  • A positive attitude towards teamwork, understanding your role within the wider school community.
  • Sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions, with a commitment to equality and accessibility for all.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a genuine enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development, as well as upholding the school’s standards and values.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS checks and all relevant pre-employment screening.
