This role is subject to -

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

We have 7 posts in our Licensing and Out of Hours Team. The position is a frontline compliance/enforcement role tasked with dealing with a wide remit of issues that affect the city both in the day and at night. The successful candidates will be involved in the delivery of a variety of regulatory services including licensing compliance, statutory nuisance and street trading alongside other related compliance and enforcement functions. The role requires direct intervention either proactive or reactive in issues that are occurring to ensure that activity is compliant with relevant legislation and taking forward any subsequent enforcement actions. As an officer you will be required to work across the entire city responding to issues as they are occurring.

Please note this role works a shift pattern which includes some nights and weekend working.

Some of the activities the role involves are: -

  • Investigating complaints regarding noise nuisance
  • Inspection of licensed premises and compliance activity in regards of licensed premises
  • Consideration of licensing applications and making relevant representations
  • Working in partnership with a range of agencies such as GMP, ASBAT and Immigration
  • Compliance activity relating to illegal street trading including seizure of goods

You should understand the importance of meeting deadlines and be able to contribute to the aims of the team . 

About the Candidate

  • We are looking for candidates with good communication skills both verbal and written as the role will involve communicating with businesses, members of the public, colleagues in the team and across the Council and other stakeholders etc. 
  • The role will involve a busy varied workload and candidates must be able to plan and organise their work to ensure that tasks are suitably completed.
  • The role will also involve elements of problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
  • We are looking for hard working self motivated individuals  who must also be willing to undertake training where required.
