An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Business Support Officer to join the Manchester Youth Justice Service as part of the Children and Families Directorate.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, high quality, customer focused, flexible and timely business support to the Youth Justice team in Manchester.

This is a city-wide role in which you will deal efficiently and courteously, to a range of queries and correspondence in both written and verbal form. You will regularly communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers and are required to deal with queries to a high standard in line with procedures and agreed timescales. You will be part of a wider team but you will need to have personal resilience and use your initiative to navigate through tasks and work with tact and diplomacy.

Manchester Youth Justice is a multi-agency service spread across four locations in the City of Manchester that aims to prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people. The core work of Youth Justice involves the supervision of Court Orders, helping children to fulfil their potential and managing the risk of young people between but not restricted to the ages of 10-17.

About the Candidate

  • You will be responsible for inputting, maintaining and retrieving information from different IT packages including Microsoft Excel, ChildView and LiquidLogic.
  • You will also provide financial support via SAP orders and fulfil general reception duties including some petty cash payments and general support to a team of Managers and Case Managers to fulfil service needs.
  • You will be required to attend regular minute meetings therefore should have excellent writing and typing skills with a high level of speed and accuracy. Relevant training will be provide in all aspects of the role.
  • It is desirable that you have knowledge of Youth Justice and the work they do and you must display the Our Manchester behaviours, including being passionate about Manchester, taking time to listen and understand and treating people fairly and courteously.
