About The Role

Working Hours:  21 Hours Per Week (Monday, Thursday and Friday 8:30pm - 4:30pm and possible late nights 12:30pm - 8pm on a rota basis.)

Contract Type: Part-Time, Permanent

Qualification - A Level 3 Business Administration qualification or willingness to achieve one within 2 years. 
 
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. At MAES we’re committed to making sure our learners and residents have a high quality education and a safe environment to work and develop to enhance their quality of life. 

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our established team. Reporting to our Area Resource and Partnership Manager. The post holder will be responsible for delivering MAES Business Support Services in collaboration across all our centres and with external partners.   

In addition, we are looking for candidates that have a passion to advocate on behalf of people and the wider communities.   

What does our Business Support Team Leader do:

  • Lead, manage and motivate the team working collaboratively across our Adult Learning Centres.
  •  Lead on and be responsible for delivering a range of initiatives which will benefit MAES learners and staff.  
  •  Be responsible for identifying, delivering and reviewing Adult Learning Centre support services. 

  •  Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal teams and external partners to maximise the impact of joint working and actively promote interagency working throughout Manchester City.

Manchester Adult Education is a part of MCC, we deliver our services across 8 main sites and we also deliver our services across a large number of Community Venues.   

We provide services for people 19 years and over, we have a wide range of courses such as ESOL, Digital Skills, English, Vocational courses, Maths, STEPS and many more. 

The post-holder will work within a team of 2 business support staff and a line manager, working with curriculum teams, other organisations and partner organisations and the public. The role is front line and will be the first port of call for our learners.

About the Candidate

 We would love to hear from you if you have experience of: 
  • Level 3 Business Administration qualification or willingness to achieve one within 2 years.
  • Evidence of and commitment to continual professional and management development.
  • Willingness to travel to meet business needs.

Essential requirements for the role:  

  • A willingness to travel across the city.   
  •  Experience of managing people effectively.
  •  Customer focused and a desire to provide services to a high standard.
  •  Oversee day-to-day running of our Adult Learning Centres.
  •  Exceptional organisational and time management skills and the ability to appropriately manage multiple tasks and remain calm and professional in a busy environment. 

  •  Experience of managing and leading support/administrative services 

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and an excellent customer focus to contribute to overall great customer services

  • Demonstrates effective and clear written and verbal communication skills to a range of people ensuring delivery is professional.

  • Shares MAES objectives
