Salary: £24,027 per annum

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our fantastic team at CHS South.

This is a Grade 2, permanent post working 30 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The full-time equivalent salary is £24,027. The pro-rata salary is £17,714. 

Main purpose of the job:

You will support access to learning and provide general support for the school in the management of pupils and resources, as directed by senior staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To work collaboratively with all staff and parents to support pupil wellbeing and to promote the five outcomes of Every Child Matters
  • To work with small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher and ensure implementation of Individual Learning Plans.
  • Provide regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher and keeping records up to date.
  • Assist with the supervision of discreet groups of pupils for short periods when the teacher is not present.
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Participate in training, to develop relevant learning strategies and ensure students make progress in learning.
  • To support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development. 

About the Candidate

We’re looking for:

  • As a Teaching Assistant you will need to have experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age and basic understanding of child development and learning. 
  • You will need to have a and excellent numeracy and literacy skills, qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher. You will be able to attend to children's personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, minor first aid and welfare matters.
  • You will demonstrate a commitment to appropriate professional standards, including core policies relating to equality and diversity and child protection.
  • You will require empathy and tact to build excellent interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders and embrace a collaborative approach focused on improvement and supporting the vision, values and objectives of the school.
