About The Role

Working Hours:  35 hours per week (full time) available:  140 hours over 28 day/4 week rota, including earlies, lates, sleeps, weekends and Bank Holidays 
Contract Type:  Full Time, Permanent 
Additional Payments: 10% Flexibility payment

This role is subject to -  
  • Medical Clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)
  • Qualification - Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and Young People in Residential Care or its equivalent; Or be willing and able to undertake the Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and young people within6 months of appointment
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request. 

Day Residential Childcare Worker

Location:  Willow Vue Children's Home, 75 Crossley Street, Gorton, Manchester, M18 8BD - Fixed Based

Role:

This is a role for a full time Day Residential Child Care Worker to work within a 6 bedded residential children's home.

We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children and maintain stability.

You will need to be emotionally and physically fit to work with young people age 11 - 17 who can be emotionally and physically challenging and have complex needs.

You will need to be able to establish and maintain relationships with the young people to challenge their existing patterns of behaviour.

In addition you will work proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess the individual needs and ensure positive outcomes.

Willow Vue currently has an Ofsted rating of good. You will create a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of the young people are paramount, and they are encouraged to develop, mature and grow.

The service is committed to the on-going personal development of the staff to meet the needs of the young people.

About the Team

The team works proactively in maintaining a high level of care for the young people. The team are consistent in their approach whilst working together in order to provide the best possible care to the young people they work with. Willow Vue have high aspirations for the young people who live in the home.

This role is predominately fixed based. You will be required to work from specific locations. This could be because you use specialist equipment or because you work with the public from a fixed location. You may work from more than one fixed location and you would usually have a dedicated workspace or team area. Your hours and times of work may be more flexible depending on the type of role you have.

About the Candidate

It is desirable that you hold a full driving licence to drive the homes vehicle and have 12 months experience of working with children, young people ,and families.
  • Have resilience, commitment to diversity and inclusion. Take personal responsibility for making things work well. Communication skills, problem solving and decision making skills.
  •  Analytical skills, planning and organising, excellent judgment skills, creative skills. ICT skills, ability to use multiple applications, systems and associated software packages.
  • Administrative skills, ability to arrange and service complex meetings, preparing information/reports, taking detailed notes and produce minutes from a wide range of meetings.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective systems in a rapidly changing environment.
Essential 12 months experience working in environments with babies, children, young adults and adults.

  • Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience working with children who have challenging behaviour 
  • Experience and training in safeguarding.
  • An innovative and creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Whilst experience working in the care sector is preferable, we will consider individuals who are new to the sector. A full training & induction programme will be followed to ensure you feel fully prepare to undertake your duties.
  • A willingness to work as a team and deliver exceptional care and outcomes to those we support.
