This role is subject to -
  • Legal right to Work:  In accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment.
  • 2 References - where possible we require 3 years' history. 
  • Qualified to ITIL or willing to complete once in post, with a good practical understanding of how the core ITIL functions (CM / IM / PM / RM and Configuration Management) interface and interact to collectively support IT and the Business.
  • BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. You will therefore be required to consent to and comply with BPSS checking requirements prior to commencing in this post. This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check. 
  • Driving Licence – The successful candidate will ideally hold a full valid driving licence, as you may be required to drive a vehicle adhering to council regulations.
This is a great opportunity to join the ICT Desktop team, which has a vital role managing the computers and systems which support all Council services and departments.

The ICT Service supports over 9,000 users of PCs, laptops, meeting room equipment, mobile phones and tablets across the Manchester City Council network and remotely.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will need:
  • Experience of how a support function operates within a large organisation, and experience of ServiceNow
  • Experience of Desktop Support, good technical knowledge of Microsoft products, operating systems and applications
  • Experience of troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software issues including hardware break-fix across a range of device types
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Intune, Entra, and Active Directory with a good all round understanding of cloud-based endpoint management
  • Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential
You will provide a professional, customer focused, specialist technical service which enables the delivery of organisational objectives and provides a high quality service to customers in line with both internal guidelines, policies and procedures and statutory requirements.
 
You will support the delivery of a range of technical projects, initiatives or work packages that comply with relevant legislation and help achieve the Council’s corporate aims and objectives.
 
You will use your technical knowledge and expertise to develop, design and implement customer-focused solutions for the assigned service area. You will act as a key member of the team and will ensure high standards of customer service and service delivery.
