We currently have an exciting opportunity for Deputy SENCO to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)
This is a permanent, full-time position on Teaching terms MPS–UPS plus TLR 2.2 allowance of £5,870, starting September 2026.
Main purpose of the job:
In addition to the professional responsibilities common to all classroom teachers, the Deputy SENCO will support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school.
Working closely with the SENCO and Senior Leaders, the post holder will play a key role in developing inclusive practice, ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) make strong progress and achieve positive outcomes.
The post holder will be expected to meet the Teachers’ Standards and exercise professional judgement in carrying out their duties collaboratively. They will be accountable to the SENCO, a Senior Leader, and ultimately the Headteacher.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the strategic development and implementation of the SEND policy and provision across the school
- Maintaining and contributing to an accurate SEND register and provision map
- Advising and supporting colleagues on effective teaching strategies and the graduated approach to SEND support
- Leading and evaluating intervention programmes to improve outcomes for students with SEND
- Analysing data to monitor progress and inform provision planning
- Working closely with external agencies, parents/carers and the local authority to support student needs
- Supporting Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and reviews
- Promoting inclusive practice and equal opportunities across the school
- Supporting the line management and development of teaching assistants
- Contributing to staff training, CPD and whole-school improvement priorities
