About The Role

Contract Type: Fixed Term
Working Hours: Part Time, Monday - Friday, 11.30am - 1.30pm 
Number of positions: 3
Pre-employment Health Assessment Required: Yes
Start Date:1st September 2026
Salary: Grade 1, pt 3 (£24,796.00 pro rata) £6,094.00 
 

 

Main duties:

  • To communicate with the pupils in their care.
  • To supervise pupils in the dining area/s and elsewhere as required by the Head Teacher.
  • To help create an atmosphere so that the meal and recreation time is a pleasant experience for pupils and staff.
  • Taking pupils who have minor accidents or are unwell to the appointed person for first aid where necessary, and if first aid is not necessary, comforting and reassuring them.
  • Where the need arises, for instance with young children, or children with special needs, attending to their physical needs such as hand washing, feeding and toileting.

  • Awareness of safeguarding and safety – Understands procedures for child protection, first aid reporting, and playground safety.
  • Good communication skills – Can give clear instructions, listen to children, and communicate effectively with staff and parents when necessary.
  • Reliability and punctuality – Consistently arrive on time and carries out responsibilities dependably.
  • Caring and approachable nature – Makes children feel safe, supported, and comfortable seeking help.
  • Positive attitude – Encourages good behaviour and creates a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Ability to manage behaviour – Applies school rules fairly and confidently while promoting respect and cooperation.
  • Teamwork – Works well with teachers, teaching assistants, kitchen staff, and other lunchtime supervisors.
