This role is subject to:
  • a minimum qualification of BTEC National Certificate/Diploma/ONC/OND or equivalent qualification in construction.
The Capital Programmes Division is looking to recruit an experienced CAD practitioner. The Division reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and is responsible for developing and delivering Major and Minor Capital Programmes across the City. The current value of the programme is approx. £200m pa. The portfolio of work is varied and some of our current and previous projects that we have been involved in include, for example, the construction of new schools, large scale solar PV installations, building demolition, repair, maintenance & refurbishment of heritage buildings, school refurbishments, galleries, leisure, and park buildings. 

The CAD Officer role is based in the Design Team, which is one of the teams that sit within the Capital Programmes Division's Project Management Office (PMO). The Design Team is responsible for providing technical design and drafting expertise and guidance on a range of construction projects to other construction teams within the Division.

The post holder will support the Design Manager to deliver a customer focused service that support the Major and Minor works programmes fee earning teams and be actively involved in the way data is captured and managed regarding all built assets.

The role will also involve:
  • Providing 2D/3D construction drawings.
  • Cataloguing and archiving property asset information.
  • Tracking, recording, and retrieving information issued out to consultants and surveyors.
  • Assisting with the production of feasibility studies and measured building surveys.
  • Assisting with the assembly and input of BIM asset information into MCC’s CAFM system.
  • Attending and taking records of Design Team Meetings.
  • Undertake regular site visits to acquire relevant data.

About the Candidate

The successful candidate will have as a minimum, a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma /ONC/OND, or equivalent qualification in construction, or practical experience of working in a construction related environment. Experience of using AutoCAD, Revit, and other related Autodesk software is required, as well as experience or awareness of using National Building Specification (NBS) software.

Additionally, you will also have good communication, ICT, problem solving, analytical, planning and organising skills, and be able to make effective decisions that support the team, the Division, and a range of internal and external clients.
