This is a pivotal moment for Manchester. We're on a mission to become a zero-carbon city by 2038, and you'll play a key role in driving that change. Funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), this is a high-profile role which would put you at the forefront of our ambitious Local Net Zero Accelerator Programme, helping Manchester to meet its zero carbon ambitions.

The Opportunity:

You will lead on the development and implementation of our heat network and energy generation and storage activities across the city. This is a chance to:

• Be a leader in the heat networks and energy generation and storage space, helping to shape policy and drive project delivery.
• Contribute to a £5 billion net zero project pipeline by 2028, creating jobs and boosting the economy.
• Work collaboratively with a diverse range of partners – from government agencies to private businesses.
• Champion innovative solutions to tackle climate change and create a sustainable future for Manchester.

You'll thrive if you have:

• Proven project management expertise: You'll deliver complex projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard, ideally within the net zero / environmental sector.
• Strategic vision: You understand the bigger picture and can develop effective plans to achieve our ambitious goals.
• Knowledge of relevant national and local legislation, regulation relating to low carbon/net zero.
• Passion for sustainability: You're driven to make a positive impact on the environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills: You can build strong relationships with people from all walks of life.
