About The Role

This role is subject to -

Qualification - legionella / mechanical safety related qualification e.g. HNC or higher in Building Services Construction and the Built Environment, Gas Engineering NVQ Level 3, F-GAS.

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

Driving Licence – The successful candidate should hold a full clean driving licence as you will be required to drive a vehicle adhering to council regulations.

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.

 

You would be overseeing P.P.M Compliance work completed by our repairs partner, undertaking post inspections of certification and work completed, ensuring remedial work is raised and completed on time and helping to ensure MCC are compliant with various Mechanical Servicing, Maintenance & Responsive Repairs, within customers homes, such as Heat Pumps, Gas Appliances, Fire Prevention and Suppression i.e. Sprinklers, Fire Extinguishers and Dry Risers.

You would be working in a friendly team of M+E staff, working from the office or hybrid working from home and attending site when required, with the requirement to come into the office 2 days a week.

Experience in the Social Housing sector, dedicated to taking a customer focused approach to keeping our residents and properties safe and warm.

To provide support and assistance to the Mechanical Compliance and Repair Manager and other Compliance Managers, as required, including providing cover for critical tasks at times of service disruption or resource scarcity within the wider team.

A full driving licence and access to a car on each working day is necessary.

About the Candidate

Manchester City Council are looking for an self motivated individual with a Gas, Heating Background or experience in the Mechanical Heat Pumps field, ASHP’s and GSHP’s.

  • Legionella / Mechanical safety related qualification e.g.HNC in Building Services Construction and the Built Environment, Gas Engineering NVQ Level 3 and current A.C.S. FGAS Qualified with experience working with Heat Pumps.
  • Track record of success in a surveying role within housing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of public services delivered at a place level and the structural, legislative and policy context within which these services operate, including an understanding of the regional policy context for local government.
  • Experience of delivering high-quality services gained in a multi-site, complex legionella & mechanical safety environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving and sustaining legionella & mechanical safety compliance in the post Grenfell era, including experience of carrying out legionella & mechanical related inspections.
  • A comprehensive and proven record of application of current legislation with regard to legionella & mechanical workstreams.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current statutory, regulatory, and best practice legionella & mechanical safety requirements for residential buildings in scope.
  • An understanding of working with in-house direct labour organisations.
