The Housing Options Team Leader will manage a team of officers who deal with 3 distinct services within Manchester Move.  They will manage theHOOP (Housing Options for Older People), Rightsizing and Mental Health Housing Options services: 

The services are city wide and liaise closely with health and social care professionals alongside our residents to ensure that the right housing options can be found to meet individual need. This ranges from older residents who may be dealing with a range of physical and mental health challenges to those wishing to look proactively at their options for the future. 

As well as managing a team of officers the team leader will also hold a caseload themselves. Alongside colleagues in Adult Social Care they will ensure that housing options advice and practical assistance with applications is available to make the best use of our step down accommodation and that people are assisted to make informed choices about their future housing. 

As well as officers being based in our office in North Manchester they will also manage those based within hospitals across Manchester and our Housing Solutions Service. 

This is a busy role and the right candidate will be comfortable in managing a range of services and people and meeting targets. 

About the Candidate

The post holder must have a good practical understanding of housing allocations and/or homelessness or related housing management experience. Experience of working with services for people over 55 would be an advantage. 

They must be able to manage a range of services and motivate and manage staff who work remotely across different sites. 

They need to be able to independently plan and organise their work and have an ability to find creative solutions to assist our residents to meet their aspirations with available housing options. Being a strong team player is important as if a focus on performance management. 

Being curious and interested in people is key as well as a strong attention to detail; assisting our residents at all steps of their rehousing journey.
