About The Role

Working Hours:   35 Hours Per Week

Contract Type:   1 x Permanent Full Time, 1 x Fixed Term Until 31 March 2027 Full-Time

Additional Payments: Casual Car User Allowance

Qualification - Completion of SafeLives training or equivalent or willingness to attend SafeLives training 

Medical Clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)  

Casual Car Documentation- The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use. 

   

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced  Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.  

The Independent Domestic Violence Advisory Service (IDVA) is a victim led, consent-based service that has a key role in the delivery of high quality support to citizens assessed being at high risk of Domestic Abuse. As an IDVA, you will provide person-centred, trauma informed support and advocacy, celebrating each victim-survivor’s unique identity and ensuring their voice is heard throughout the process.   
 
 If you're successful, you will join a team of dedicated professionals who deliver an outcome-focused, proportionate response to safeguarding from Domestic Abuse, working collaboratively with partner agencies across the City of Manchester.

About the Candidate

We would love to hear from you if you have experience of working with victims-survivors of high risk Domestic Abuse across a range of settings including supporting victims referred into the MARAC process, through the criminal justice system and/or homelessness.

    • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate equally, clearly and effectively with the widest range of individuals across all levels of society, in a way that promotes understanding and takes account of individual need.

    • Demonstrate an understanding of the views of others and communicate in a manner appropriate to the audience, both verbally and in writing. Ability to listen attentively to the views of others and respond appropriately to risks and issues arising.  

    •  

    • Planning and Organising: Ability to organise multiple tasks in the most effective way, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others. Ability to visualise a plan of action needed to achieve a specific goal and to respond to risks that may have an impact on the delivery of such goals. 

    •  

    • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Ability to make effective decisions on a day-to-day basis, taking ownership of those decisions, whilst considering individual circumstances and remaining customer focussed. Ability to think logically and explain reasoning behind decisions or actions taken, demonstrating sound judgement in escalating issues where necessary. Ability and confidence to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to problems within limited time constraints. Ability and confidence to develop adopt and justify new approaches outside of existing parameters.

    • Administrative Skills: Good level of literacy and numeracy skills to produce letters, assessment and support plans, case notes and other documentation, with familiarity with information technology including databases and word packages.
