This role is subject to - 
  • 2 References - where possible we require 3 years' history. 
  • Qualification - Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C
  • This role is a higher-level apprenticeship and as such, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a course of study leading to a Level 4 Business Analyst.  This qualification will take 18 months.

About Legal Services 

Legal Services sits within the City Solicitor’s Division alongside Registrars and Coroners, Communications, Electoral Services, and the Civic & Ceremonial Team. We underpin the Council’s legal, democratic and statutory functions and are the largest shared legal service in the country, providing value‑for‑money legal services to Manchester and Salford City Councils, and to Rochdale Borough Council for Children and Adults services, as well as a number of external clients. 

The Central Business Support Team 

Our Central Business Support Team provides high‑quality administrative support to the Legal Services groups and works collaboratively to enhance the role of business support across the Council.

About the Candidate

We welcome applicants who have previously attended further education and encourage you to apply to gain new skills to specialise in a different area. This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your horizons! However, it is important to highlight, due to the Department of Education’s funding rules for Apprenticeships, you would be ineligible to apply for this apprenticeship role if you currently have a qualification at Level 4 or above in Business Analyst Apprenticeship or similar field.

Any offer of employment may be withdrawn if it is found that your prior qualifications conflict with the apprenticeship framework.

You are an organised, collaborative and analytical business support professional who can balance priorities in a fast‑moving environment and inspire confidence in colleagues and stakeholders. You will bring:
  • Experience of working with a legal case management system as an administrator.
  • Clear, concise communication that promotes understanding and positive relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information from multiple sources and present insights using simple statistics, tables and charts.
  • Excellent planning and organising capabilities to sequence multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven administrative skills, including arranging and servicing complex meetings, note‑taking and producing accurate minutes.
Essential Requirements
  • Commitment to undertake and successfully complete a Level 4 Business Analyst Apprenticeship (18 months).
  • Hold Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C.
  • Accurate keyboard skills and competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Administrator‑level experience of a legal case management system, including running reports.
  • Proven administrative skills, including arranging and servicing complex meetings, note‑taking and producing accurate minutes.
