Due to one of our existing team taking a period of maternity leave we are seeking to appoint a reliable and self-motivated Finance & HR Officer who possesses excellent communication skills and who will work well within our existing team.

The successful candidate will assist the School Business Manager in providing a comprehensive and accurate financial and human resources administration service to the school.

Our ideal candidate would have excellent organisation and communication skills, a flexible approach to work and have prior experience of working within either a finance or human resources environment.

Whilst applications are encouraged from candidates with previous experience of working within the school environment, we would be willing to provide training in this area for someone that we believe would bring relevant skills/experience from a different sector.

About the Candidate

The successful applicant to our role would be required to:

  • Assist the School Business Manager in the efficient and prudent management of school funds through the provision of a comprehensive and accurate financial administration service.
  • Assist the School Business Manager with the provision of a comprehensive and accurate human resources administration service to the School, to include the recording of staff absences and leave, the drafting of letters, administering the DBS checking process, and the administration of the recruitment and selection process.
  • Ensure the electronic personnel files are accurate and up to date, and data is collated and submitted as required.
  • Analyse staff absences, alerting the School Business Manager/appropriate staff when Attendance Management Reviews are required. Provide statistical information to the School Business Manager regarding staff absence levels.
  • Raise orders, process invoices, arrange payment of invoices, liaise with suppliers as appropriate and raise invoices relating to school income.
  •  Undertake routine financial administration procedures, ensuring that work is accurate, of a high standard and is in accordance with the school financial procedures and regulations, whilst ensuring the efficient delivery of consistent financial reporting.
  • To be responsible for administration of school cash where appropriate, including the logging of cash received in school.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc material, both manually and through computerised systems as requested by the School Business Manager.
  • Maintain accurate books of accounts and computer records, which record the school’s financial transactions, including order forms, invoices, cash, receipts and other paperwork.
  • To ensure accuracy and confidentiality of all information produced.
  • Support in other ad hoc finance & HR related work as required by the School Business Manager.
