Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

We are looking for a driven, RICS qualified Commercial Surveyor to join our dynamic Property Management Team. This is a fantastic chance to expand your expertise and deliver first-class service across a diverse and high value portfolio. The role holder will provide professional advice undertaking a comprehensive range of commercial property management activities and fee earning work reporting to a Principal Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional advice across a range of commercial property management activities expanding revenue returns.
  • Mentor graduate and technical staff.
  • Manage the Investment Estate, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Aid Strategic Housing acquisitions and disposals.
  • Assist the Development team in delivering regeneration objectives.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a property management service, managing a £24M per annum+ investment portfolio that includes flagship City Centre assets.

Are you a chartered estate surveyor with experience of landlord and tenant matters, including negotiating leases, licenses and managing other property transactions who will play a major role in applying the Councils Commercial Estate Strategy?

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of work and will need to demonstrate knowledge/experience of the following:

  • A chartered surveyor with post qualification property management experience.
  • Track record of successful delivery in a property environment.
  • A knowledge of the property market and the role the City Council plays in regeneration.
  • Experience in undertaking valuation and all elements of property management with demonstrable evidence of providing successful outcomes.
  • Experience of the successful delivery of effective property management solutions.

About the Candidate

Essential requirements for the role:   

  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Ability to formulate independently a range of options for new or unfamiliar situations and to select the appropriate course of action to produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution. An ability to make independent decisions of a relatively uniform nature.
  • Project Management: Proven ability in managing relationships with project stakeholders at all levels of seniority through effective communication and an acute awareness of political sensitivities and cultural barriers.
  • Analytical Skills: Skills to analyse a wide range of data and other sources of information to break them down into components parts, patterns and relationships; probes for further understanding of problems and makes rational judgements from the available information and analysis demonstrating and understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger system/issue.
  • Commercial Skills: Demonstrate sound business intelligence and ability to identify commercially viable opportunities and secure best consideration and value for money in service delivery.
  • Financial Management: Ability to monitor and maintain expenditure, ensuring that financial targets are met, and being accountable for any areas where budget and expenditure exceed their agreed tolerances
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify best practice and analyse trends and patterns to develop ideas for the strategy of the service. Understands adjustments to strategy and helps others to adjust plans accordingly.
  • Communication Skills: Is able to effectively transfer key and complex information to all levels of staff, adapting the style of communication as necessary and ensuring that this information is understood.

Technical Skills requirement:
  • A qualified chartered surveyor with post qualification property management experience.
  • Track record of successful delivery in a property environment.
  • A knowledge of the property market and the role the City Council plays in regeneration.
  • Experience in undertaking valuation and all elements of property management with demonstrable evidence of delivering successful outcomes.
  • Experience of the successful delivery of effective property management solutions.

The experience below would be beneficial but is not essential:  

  • Knowledge of experience of managing local authority property portfolios.
  • Knowledge of property management related IT system including CPAD and SAP
  • Driving licence
