This role is subject to -  

  • 2 References - where possible we require 3 years' employment history.
  • Police Vetting– You will be required to undertake a Greater Manchester Police vetting process.
  •  DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
  • Essential Car Documentation- This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance. 

The role involves completing Return interviews (RI) with young people under the age of 18 who have been safely located by the Police after being reported missing. By adopting a child focused and nurturing approach, the role holder will be able to confidently assess if that child is at risk of harm or exploitation either during their missing episode or in their general lifestyle. If this is apparent the role holder will make referrals to various agencies both internally and externally in order to safeguard and minimise further missing episodes occurring. The role holder will also attend key meetings to share and gather intelligence and information and will work within a multi - agency framework in order to identify and achieve positive outcomes for the child and their families.

About the Candidate

The role holder will have the ability to form trusting relationship within a short period of time.

They will be confident in asking difficult questions with professionalism, compassion and empathy.

The role holder will have to be highly motivated and process good organisational skills and will have the capacity to manage their own workload and complete tasks in a thorough but timely manner.

They will have a knowledge of safeguarding policies and also have knowledge of the push and pull factors (reasons) as to way young people are reported missing to the Police.

As the majority of RI's are completed within the family home or in educational settings the candidate will have to be reasonably fit.

As the post is an essential car user post, the candidate will have a full driving licence.
