Candidates should have experience of working within a Key stage, some experience of delivering phonics is essential. Candidates should have experience of engaging with parents, colleagues and other professionals to support the development of all pupils.
They should be able to manage a number of support staff and liaise regularly with the SENDCO.
Candidates should have experience of working with pupils with communication, language and interaction needs, understand the expectations of the SEND Code of practice and be able to use multi agency working to ensure the requirements of a pupil's EHCP are met.
As well as being able to work effectively as part of a team, they need to be creative, show initiative and be able to adapt teaching to enable all pupils to engage with the curriculum at their developmental level.
Prior experience of working in resourced provisions or special schools would be preferable.
